You know, we never really considered what a mixture of a vampire and a duck might look like. If you ask us, it is an oddly terrifying combination that should never exist. Fortunately, Blueprint’s 2017 Count Duckula slot manages to make it look more comedic than horrifying. Though Labslots was not aware of it at first, this theme is borrowed from an old British TV series by the same name. Each duck you come across has a very visually distinct appearance, which goes a long way in building personality.
We really have to take our hats off to the developers. Their team pulls this silly theme off with the mastery we would expect from more experienced software providers. It just goes to show how important it is to have a team of talented artists. Yes, there is an undeniable inspiration from Disney movies and TV shows in the way Count Duckula is drawn and animated. However, the only reason it looks as good as it does is because a lot of effort went into making it happen. The background image has all the elements needed for a vampire themed game. A creepy castle off in the distance, a graveyard, hanging bats and a creepy forest.
You play this release on a five-reel board with twenty active paylines. The number can increase to forty during one of the special features present in this slot. To win, you need to collect three or more identical symbols next to one another. All winning combinations must follow an active payline, and have to start with the leftmost reel. Otherwise, their cash prize will not be awarded to the player. The control panel is nicely designed and easy to use. You can change your total bet, turn sound on or off, open the paytable, set up Auto Play and spin the reels. Players can wager between £0.20 and £500.00 on each spin!
Icon designs offer a mixture of playing card royals and symbols with unique artwork. Not that we want to detract from the effort Blueprint put into the colourful letters. Each one has wounds or other decorations, which help them fit in with the comically creepy theme. Other icons include a shield, a castle, an organ and Count Duckula himself. A heart impaled with a wooden stake is a Wild, and can substitute for all symbols except for the Scatter. Meanwhile, the Scatter is a portrait of the count, which can award not one, but five different special features!
Before we get to them, however, we have to talk about the four randomly triggered bonuses. You will know they activated if you see Duckula, Igor or Nanny appear on the side of the playing field. They will start to walk to the left, activating one of four in-game modifiers.
Collecting at least three Scatters activates the Wall of Fame. Through it, you can activate one of five unique special features.

We enjoyed the time we spent playing this online slot game, but we understand if you choose not to try it out on one of our top listed UK online slot sites. It is a release very much so built for the fans of the original show in mind. The sheer variety of special features can feel overwhelming at first, but you quickly get used to it. Really, our only complaint is the low RTP. Everything else is fantastic!
